Christmas Stockholm-sweden travel

Christmas in the fairy tale

Speaking about the most amusing world capitals Stockholm dawns upon first. Winter Stockholm resembles a part of a parallel fairytale world. Tourists often say the old part of Stockholm is much more interesting in in winter. Probably the reason is the fabulous ambience that surrounds the old town market.

Bake your Christmas bread

There is a famous place in Stockholm called Skansen. Since 1891 Skansen has been the most fascinating open-air museum in Scandinavia. Connoisseurs of the local architecture will be happy. More than that, some of the historical buildings still work! Bakeries, schools, forging shops and post offices are the most interesting in the last evening before Christmas when everyone can go inside and join funny competitions.

In December, for example, they have a great Christmas market in Skansen. All people who would like to learn what “Stockholm tourism” is in reality should definitely visit it. You are not feeling like purchasing anything? OK, but what about baking Christmas bread in the 19th century bakery? Looks rather challenging, doesn’t it?

Several hunderds of tourists come to the market in Skansen every day. It means that you are recommended to be ready for a lot of people and have plenty of patience.

Shopping for everyone

You will quickly become an inveterate shopper if you visit Stureplan square. Buying doesn’t have to be the best part here. The main pleasure is in walking around and selecting things. It’s really worth coming to Stureplan on Christmas Eve. There is no better attraction in the whole world that has such a Scandinavian spirit.

If you feel exhausted of doing shopping – visit a great skating rink situated not far away. The rink visitors are usually foreign travelers. So if you feel like meeting new people it seems to be an ideal place for that.

Family entertainment

Without a doubt, museums of Stockholm are a very good choice for both adults and children. But there are certain attractions made specifically for families. Stockholm circus could be an awesome choice. Every show there is good for watching it with family. Don’t worry, your children will not leave the circus disappointed! Kids like breathtaking shows so they will like Stockholm circus.

There are also ferry tours. You can go to this tour near the Opera and then go to small amusing islands. But one should be careful – in a windy weather it can be really cold aboard. There are thick and warm buck skins on board for the people who are cold. When there is good weather a ferry trip is a perfect pastime.

Fun for everyone

Sweden is a Northern land and from time to time its weather can be really tough. Even if the air temperature looks bearable the wind can ruin all plans. When it’s windy outside it can be a sensible idea to spend time at home.

Young travelers and just those who like suspense will highly appreciate local escape rooms. There are dozens of different escape rooms and one can easily find the information about them on the Internet. There are almost three dozens of such rooms in Stockholm!

Royal Opera and museums ideally suit for an afternoon or evening. The Stockholm bars are awesome and you just must visit them. There are dozens of them in the city center and in the old part. Stockholm clubs and bars look almost the same like in the rest of Europe. The capital of Sweden is a quiet expensive city, but you must taste the local beer brands. Nightlife of Stockholm is really hectic. City center is full of awesome nightclubs, pubs and bars. It’s not a big deal to find a nice place to stay.

Picturesque view of the capital

Globe-shaped Sports Center is another attraction of Stockholm. Check out the largest ball in the world. It makes it a very interesting place to visit especially because it has an outstanding viewing point. You will see entire Stockholm at a plain sight from the height of 130 meters! The entire city will be in front of you.

Don’t hesitate and choose Stockholm as your Christmas holidays destination!
