Christmas in the fairy tale

Talking about the most attractive capitals of Europe Stockholm comes up first. In winter it looks like a fairytale town due to its neat streets and decorated building. The best way to check what Christmas Eve in Stockholm looks like is to visit the Old Town. It has its own unmatched ambience with the marketplace, handmade souvenirs, delicious chestnuts and of course, glogg.

Bake your Christmas bread

Skansen is probably one of the most memorable sites in Stockholm. It is a very popular open-air museum founded long ago in 1891. Connoisseurs of the local architecture will be incredibly happy. What is more, some old buildings still work! You just should come here in the last evening before Christmas and see those amazing schools, forging shops and post offices.

In December, for instance, they have a great Christmas market in Skansen. All tourists who wish to know what “Stockholm tourism” is in reality should definitely visit it. You don’t even have to buy anything if you don’t want to. You could try to bake your own bread instead. Looks challenging, doesn’t it?

Skansen market attracts more than thousand tourists daily. Please, be patient and don’t flee away from crowd and queues and you will sense the festive spirit.

Shopping for non-shoppers

Stureplan square in Stockholm will charm you even if you are an inveterate non-shopper. Buying doesn’t have to be the best part of it. The main pleasure is in walking around and selecting things. Stureplan should certainly be visited during your Christmas holidays. You will never find such a place with such a Scandinavian atmosphere in any other part of the world.

After the shopping you can go for ice-skating and have a great fun with your family. Tourists from other countries like that ice-skating rink and regularly go there. It turns the rink into a perfect place for getting to know new people.

Spend your time with family

Travelers of all ages will highly appreciate the museums of the Swedish capital. However, you can find some special “family attractions”. Tourists love Stockholm circus so it would be great if you take your family there. Great performers will prepare something really exciting. Your kids will be thankful and happy, no doubts! One more pleasant thing is ferry. You can take it near the Opera and have a travel to small amusing islands. Anyway, please keep in mind that strong wind is not a good weather for sea trips. You will see warm and thick buck skins on a ferry for the people who are cold. You can delight your eyes with incomparable views from the ferry if it is not snowy.

Fun for everyone

Stockholm has a small daylight in winter and sometimes the weather gets simply horrible. Low temperature is not a problem, however the penetrating wind is. Then it’s worth looking for an indoor kind of activity.

Young travelers quite often recommend going to local escape rooms saying their nice design and plot. There are many different escape rooms and one can easily find the information about them online. There are several dozens of those rooms in Stockholm!

Royal Opera and museums are great for an afternoon or evening. At night it’s a great idea to spend time in a bar. There are dozens of them in the center and in the old part. Basically the majority of Stockholm bars and pubs could be compared to the European counterparts. Swedish beer is very tasty and is worth trying without looking at the price. Nightlife of Stockholm is really stormy. Great bars and clubs can be found in any part of city center. It’s not a big deal to find a nice place to stay.

Globe-shaped Sports Center is another attraction of Stockholm. Check out the largest ball in the world. In addition, you could enjoy a great view from the Sports Center viewing platform. The platform revolves around the Center and rises up to 130 meters! The entire city will be in front of you.
